Children's Worship Service in Kansas City

Welcome to Emmanuel Kids

Welcome to Emmanuel Kids!

At Emmanuel Baptist Church, we strive to have an engaging children’s worship service in Kansas City every Sunday.

We want each child at Emmanuel to love God, the Son of God, the Spirit of God, the Word of God, the people of God, and the things of God. If you have children ages birth through 6th grade who are excited about making friends and learning the Bible, we’d love to have them worship with us on Sunday mornings at 9:30 and 10:45 a.m.!

Sermon Series: Shattering the Darkness

We invite you to join us in-person or online in our series: Shattering the Darkness. In a world of hatred, fear, and violence, the world can feel very dark. This Easter, hear about Jesus, the Light of the World, and how He has entered the darkness and shattered it, giving us a hope for today and the future. Join us this Easter as we engage in the life of Jesus, the One who shatters the darkness.

Join our service Online LIVE or In-Person at our Overland Park, Kansas location.

We follow local COVID protocols. Masks are required at all times. Regular cleaning is instituted.

Service Overviews

March 7th:

Darkness isn't a mere force; there is one who embodies the darkness. Long ago, the Devil brought darkness to mankind, who embraced it and brought the world to ruin. In the midst of this, God promises to bring One who will one day destroy the darkness.

March 14th:

Since the Fall, the powers of darkness are continually scheming to plunge the world further into darkness. In the Temptation of Christ, we see Satan's schemes and find in Jesus a hope for defeating the darkness.

March 21st:

As we continue in the life of Christ, we find a crowd of people misunderstanding and even beginning to hate the message of Jesus. The reason is simple: the darkness has enslaved their minds and hearts against the truth of freedom.

March 28th:

Nearing the end of Christ's earthly ministry, His popularity climaxes in His Triumphal Entry to Jerusalem. Though the crowds are cheering and praising God, Jesus weeps, knowing their spiritual darkness will soon cause the crowds to cry "Crucify Him!"

April 2nd:

In Christ's final hours, the forces of darkness culminate in the betrayal of His disciple, and the horror of crucifixion. Truly, this was the hour of darkness. But as Jesus knew, it would take suffering, anguish, and death to defeat the grip of darkness upon the earth.

April 4th:

In Jesus' death, all hope seemed lost. Yet, on the third day, the women come to the tomb finding the stone rolled away and two men in shining garments, bearing the good news that the Light of the World has risen from the dead. In His resurrection, we find the defeat of darkness and eternal salvation in His name.

Every Sunday

Each Sunday, children experience an engaging Bible lesson, worship, group time, and other activities that make learning fun.

It is our privilege to get to know each child and family by name and to help parents in the spiritual growth of their child. We staff Emmanuel Kids with volunteers who love your children and want to be here each week. Our volunteers commit to your children for a full year so your child will be comfortable and have the best, most consistent learning experience possible at our children’s worship service. We hope that being an Emmanuel Kid will be among the most fun and memorable days of their childhood!

A safe environment for all ages

The safety of our children is a top priority. Besides a trained security team that protects our whole campus, we use security cards and cameras to ensure the location and well-being of your child during the time you entrust them to us.

A minimum of two adult volunteers in each classroom who have had security background checks ensure that we will care for your child with the utmost attention to their needs during our worship service. Come introduce yourselves to our teachers so we can get acquainted with the entire family!

Serving in Emmanuel Kids

Serving in Emmanuel Preschool and Kids is too enjoyable to be considered “service”. Many of our volunteers who commit 1 year to a group of children can’t wait to sign up again at year’s end and often end up serving joyfully for many years.

The reason is obvious: Nothing is more rewarding than investing in a child as they grow in their understanding of God. We have the privilege of coming alongside many children as they commit their lives to Christ and even get baptized while they are a part of Emmanuel Kids. Our staff and weekday volunteers work hard to prepare each classroom and the age-appropriate materials needed for each week’s lesson, so that each child can easily learn about the God who made them and loves them. If you love children and are someone who wants to affect eternity–invest your time in a child!

Educational Materials we use (1 year through 6th Grade)

Emmanuel children worship each Sunday with others their age. They sing, pray, and hear a scriptural message, as do our Emmanuel adults.

We present the weekly lesson in multiple ways to strengthen its application to each child. We use materials based on scripture and focused on age-appropriate lessons for your children. We are consistent in our approach and teach the truth of Scripture, the love of God, and the saving sacrifice of Christ. Our children worship, pray, study, and memorize weekly. Parents appreciate that their children are learning real Bible lessons at such an early age and can take their knowledge home in ways that make it easy to share what they are learning with their parents. We empower our teachers to focus on their relationship with each child and delivery of the material, so we do not require them to create lessons or crafts. We do this prep work for them and provide all they need in the classroom when they arrive to teach.

Corporate Worship

We highly value worshipping with our kids as an intergenerational community.

Children grades 1 through 6 join us as a group in the worship center for congregational singing from 10:45 to 11:15 a.m. before returning to their classrooms. Children grades 5 through 6 attend the entirety of our 10:45 a.m. worship service once a month.

Preschool Worship

Children three years through kindergarten gather as a group and worship together in their own children’s worship service environment.

Preschool worship comprises singing and watching the weekly Bible video.
