Renew Student Ministries exists to see 7th–12th grade students become faithful disciples of Jesus Christ through biblical teaching, authentic community, discipleship, and gospel engagement.

What Happens Each Week
Wednesday Nights
6:30–8:00 PM, Doors Open at 6:00 PM
Wednesday nights are a great place for any student to jump in. We start with time to hang out and have fun together before gathering for games, worship, and biblical teaching. Our teaching is rooted in Scripture and designed to help students understand God’s Word and see how it shapes their everyday lives.
We end the night in small groups, where students can talk about what they’re learning, ask questions, build authentic friendships, and be known and encouraged by caring adult leaders. Wednesday nights are a place to bring a friend, have fun, encounter God’s Word, and take another step toward following Jesus.
Sunday Mornings
9:30–10:30 AM, Doors Open at 9:15 AM
Sunday mornings are designed to help students go deeper in their faith and build authentic community. Each week includes a brief time of fellowship followed by curriculum-based small groups led by adult volunteers.
Small groups give students a consistent place to study, ask questions, develop meaningful relationships, and learn what it looks like to follow Jesus in everyday life.

Parent Frequently Asked Questions
What should my student bring?
We encourage students to bring a Bible if they have one. Bringing a notebook is also helpful for taking notes, writing down questions, and reflecting on what they learn.
Can my student bring a friend?
Yes! In fact, we encourage students to invite friends. If they bring a friend, that friend can fill out a connect card to receive a welcome gift.
What grades can attend?
Renew Student Ministries is for students in 7th–12th grade.
What happens on Wednesday nights?
Wednesday nights include time to hang out with friends, games, worship, biblical teaching, and small groups. Doors open at 6:00 PM, giving students time to connect before the night officially begins.
Our ultimate goal is that every student leaves the evening with a deeper love for Jesus.
Meet the Pastor
Karsten Harrison
Pastor of Student Ministries and Outreach
Karsten joined the staff of Emmanuel Baptist Church in 2025 as the Pastor of Student Ministries and Outreach.
Before coming to Emmanuel, Karsten served as the Director of Neighborhood Outreach at Northland Church. During his time at Northland, he served in a variety of roles, including pastoral intern, ministry coordinator, and Director of Neighborhood Outreach. He also served in student ministry, leading small groups and discipling young men. Through that ministry, the Lord gave Karsten a passion for seeing students become faithful followers of Jesus Christ.
While at Northland, Karsten met and married his wife, Elizabeth. They have been married since 2023 and have two cats. Together, Karsten and Elizabeth enjoy playing board games, trying new food, and creating lasting memories.
Karsten also enjoys writing and has contributed articles to FTC.co and The Gospel Coalition. He is currently completing the final year of his program at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he is pursuing a Master of Divinity, a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies, and a Bachelor of Science in Business.
